A GREAT MAN: Jimmy Reid

I AM disgusted with Des McNulty’s column about the late Jimmy Reid.

Mr McNulty ended his column by saying: “As our communities once more face the prospect of savage cuts from a Tory Government in Westminster and the indifference of an SNP Government, with no commitment to social justice in Holyrood, I hope that we will all remember the battle fought and won by the UCS workers and that it will inspire us to once more fight for not only our jobs, but our communities and our values.”

I find it not only distasteful but pathetic to use the death of a great man to try and score party political points.

The Labour Party and Mr McNulty should take a leaf out of Jimmy Reid’s book and put the workers and people of Scotland first instead of playing party politics.

I hope Des McNulty is ashamed of himself.
