THANKS to constant complaints and threatening to bring in an independent body to investigate the repairs department, residents at Dalmuir's high rise flats have had some success with getting the repairs done.
It has been an uphill struggle but we now have new security lights on all of the flats and new security doors which the vandals have attacked without success.
They would have been caught if we had proper security cameras or a concierge service.
We will continue to push for this.
There have been one or two teething problems with the new doors but they will be sorted in time.
Other repairs are now in the pipeline.
There has been some action on the dampness and mould problem.
It is a pity that we have to push so much to get these repairs done.
You might ask why these problems are occurring.
There has been some discussion on the heating system in the flats as a result of the survey the tenants filled in (96 per cent of the tenants and residents said the system was too expensive to run) and we will be meeting with council officials with a view to solving this problem.
The combined heat and power system used by the Clydebank Housing Association at Radnor Park was one of the suggestions made by the residents.
Watch this space.
