I have received a leaflet from our new MP in waiting, a Ms Gemma Doyle, in which she promises to fight for Clydebank, Dumbarton, the Vale of Leven, Old Kilpatrick, Bowling and Milton, with not a mention of Duntocher and Hardgate.

As a Duntocher man who has just arrived back in the village after many years of exile in central Clydebank I am disappointed that we will once again have a Dumbarton based MP that needs a sat nav to find any streets in Duntocher and Hardgate, or for that matter in central Clydebank and Old Kilpatrick.

No doubt we will hear during the campaign how Ms Doyle's family originally came from Whitecrook and how she spent her happiest times there.

Aye right, she was quick enough in turning her back on the area when she headed for the bright lights of London where she has been parachuted in from to fight this General Election campaign.

As soon as it is over she will be heading back to London as quick as her legs will carry her, probably as our new and seldom heard of MP.

Paul Gallacher, Duntocher
