Boy doing a man's job
AS we steamed into recession the word from the private sector was 'Let's not talk ourselves into a recession'.
Proof they were not at the races.
As Northern Rock went through the floorboards John McFall MP informed viewers of Newsnight "It is a liquidity crisis, not a solvency crisis".
Proof he was not at the races.
More like a boy sent in to do a man's job.
With the economy in intensive care, Government finance whizz Baroness Vadera spoke of "the green shoots of recovery".
Proof she was not at the races.
Now the whole script has been switched.
Forget the truth, as Marx said, "the ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class".
Now, although it is as plain as the nose on your face, the private sector banks and their big-time private sector clients were at the heart of the economic carnage we have just witnessed, forget that.
Now the private sector is Mr Nice Guy and the public sector is the Prince of Darkness.
The big problem now is with care workers and children's nurseries.
They are the plague.
They have been the ones who brought the country to its knees.
They will have to go.
It was not the bankers and their accomplices.
They are our saviours, say the ruling classes.
But not according to recent research from Manchester University, which says "the private sector has more or less completely failed to create jobs in the old industrial regions".
Not only is the public sector supporting its own workforce directly, it is also subsidising 'para-state' jobs in the private sector, such as consultants, private service providers and now several banks.
Just as the Welfare State has been asset-stripped, we have witnessed the growth in private sector corporate welfare - at public expense. Never mind party political talk of progress and prosperity.
Never mind the cap-in-hand private sector.
The people need to unite and win back control of the Welfare State for their own good, before the locusts strip every leaf from the tree.
