I WANTED to raise the issue of poor CCTV coverage of Kilbowie Road, specifically the stretch of road from the top of the Clyde Shopping Centre to the traffic lights just past the Atlantis bar.
On Saturday January 23, my sister and I were crossing Kilbowie Road from outside Singer train station as there was no traffic on the road or sound of traffic coming.
Then, at approximately 9.15pm, a Subaru-type car came screeching from nowhere at such a speed it almost hit my sister and I.
This car appeared so suddenly that my sister did not pick up on it coming and if it had not been for my quick thinking/reflexes, we would have been hit full on.
The car itself only made the horrid screeching noise as it got closer to us, so whoever was driving was undoubtedly setting out to hit us for whatever fun-factor they were aiming for.
The car then sped up the hill of Kilbowie Road so fast we could not see the registration number.
My sister is a married mum-of-two - her husband and her kids came very close to losing their wife and mum.
We contacted Clydebank police to raise the issue, just in the off chance the CCTV cameras on Kilbowie Road would have picked up something.
However, they said the cameras did not catch anything of this incident.
My sister and I were almost hit-and-run casualties/statistics, which is something that is all too often in the newspapers these days, so I believe it is unacceptable in this day and age particularly that there was insufficient technological coverage to catch this car's registration details and, subsequently, the driver who should not be on the roads if they drive like that.
The next time this driver decides to play chicken with people's lives, someone's life will be lost.
