SOME may call it being economical with the truth, others would call it deliberately misleading the public, and less charitable then myself would simply call it lying.

I refer to Des McNulty's column in the Clydebank Post where he stated that myself and my Clydebank colleagues voted against new secondary schools in Clydebank.

No, Mr McNulty, as you well know we voted against the amalgamation of the schools and the extremely expensive method of financing them - namely Private Public Partnership.

Of course Des is a great advocate of Private Public Partnership which was a Labour re-branding of the Tory policy of Private Funded Initiative.

Clydebank High and St Peter's along with the Vale of Leven have been built under a PPP scheme, which we will be paying for the next 30 years.

The new Dumbarton Academy, with the help of the SNP Government, will not be financed by a PPP scheme.

I wonder if Des McNulty would like to print in his column the comparative cost of each project over a 30-year period.

Councillor William Hendrie, SNP, Clydebank Waterfront ward
