In reply to the recent letters on the subject of the £7 minimum wage, I would wish to answer by stating the following.
I believe there would have been a number of council workers who earn just above £7 per hour that would have rightly felt justified in wishing to see the differential maintained, thus the cost would have been much more than the £140,000 indicated.
There are many Council Tax payers who are on less than £7 per hour who would have to have paid for it one way or the other.
The correct place to do this is Westminster.
Why do they not campaign against the Labour Government to raise the minimum wage for everyone, not just West Dunbartonshire Council workers to £7 per hour?
