QUITE often, when standing having a chat at a local bus stop, I hear the expressed opinion "they're all the same" - the various political parties that is.
There is one recently reported decision, however, which does highlight the difference.
I refer to the report (Post November 4) concerning the defeat of the local Labour Group's bid to introduce - as Glasgow has done - a £7 per hour minimum wage for some of West Dunbartonshire Council's (WDC) lowest paid workers.
I was shocked to read that the bid was defeated by the combined votes of SNP councillors and (recently) Independent councillors Denis Agnew, Willie McLaughlin and Marie McNair.
These councillors are apparently quite happy to have some WDC workers remain on the lowest level of grade one pay - around £6.32 to £6.92 per hour. Shame.
Agnes Clunas, Mountblow
