I AM writing in response to a letter from an anonymous reader (Postbag, November 4).

The writer states it would be a shame to install plastic tunnels or high fences over the Erskine Bridge and I am wondering would this view still be held by this person if they had experienced the loss of a close family member?

I lost my brother in 1992 and lobbied the then Roads minister in order to erect higher fencing but it was refused.

I understand that if a person is intent on taking their own lives they will, but surely if higher fencing was erected it would be one less place for these poor people to go.

Since the sad deaths of the two young girls I have contacted my local councillors - all four - and have had no response from them.

The people in Clydebank need to be heard - higher fencing or a tunnel will surely outweigh the view of the whole of the area to the life of someone's son or daughter.
