I HAVE followed the correspondence from ‘Derek Johnstone’, address not supplied, who has now taken the title of “Convener, Concerned Voices for St Margaret’s Hospice Campaign”.

Let me make this quite clear - I have been involved in the hospice campaign and in all of my involvement with hospice supporters I have not encountered a ‘Derek Johnstone’.

The hospice administrator, John McLintock, has invited Mr Johnstone to meet with the chief executive at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice and Mr Johnstone has never made contact with the hospice.

This would seem to me to be the best route for information, however Mr Johnstone and his “concerned voice” has not accepted this offer.

Mr Johnstone is not known to the hospice, as a patient’s relative, supporter or campaigner.

He is not known to have collected signatures on the street or been involved in any other way.

I would be interested in meeting Mr Johnstone to discuss his concerns.

I am well aware of the hospice dealings with the health board and given that he has not accepted the offer to meet with the hospice administrator and chief executive, feel it would be helpful for Mr Johnstone to explore these concerns with someone who has the knowledge to help him understand the hospice position, rather than continue his communication of his concerns through the letters page of the Clydebank Post.

Gil Paterson, West of Scotland MSP
