Around 4.05pm yesterday (Monday), a 23 year old woman was walking along Kilbowie Road near to Clydebank Business Park when she was approached from behind by a man who then touched her inappropriately.

Detective Sergeant Gordon Pettigrew, Clydebank CID, is appealing for information.

He said: “As has happened on each occasion, the suspect has approached the woman from behind and grabbed her buttocks (over her clothes) before making off.

“Although uninjured, it was very distressing for her.

“This is the third incident in the past week; all of which we believe have been by the same man.

“The first incident happened around 5.20pm on Wednesday November 20, and involved a 49-year-old woman in Melfort Gardens, Clydebank, and the second was in Second Ave near to Windsor Crescent around 5.10pm hours on Thursday, November 21.

“Again, thankfully on these two occasions, neither woman was injured.” On each occasion the suspect is described as man, white, 5 ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins height and of medium to stocky build. He was wearing a red coloured jacket with grey or cream coloured sections.

In the first and third incident the man is described as having dark shaved hair. In the second, he was wearing a dark coloured woollen hat.

DS Pettigrew added: “It is more than likely that each incident has been opportunistic, however, that does not take away from the seriousness of them or the distress they have caused.

“The man was wearing a distinctive red jacket with either grey or cream coloured sections. Kilbowie Road is a busy main road and it is very possible that someone would have seen the man responsible in the area.

“We are checking CCTV and following up a number of enquiries but would appeal to anyone who recognises the description of who has any information to contact Clydebank Police Office on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“Extra police officers are patrolling the area and anyone with concerns or information can speak to them.”
