DETECTIVES in Clydebank have released a description of a man they wish to trace in connection with an alleged child sex attack at ASDA. At around 1.55pm hours on Tuesday (September 18), police attended at Asda supermarket, 31 Britannia Way, Clydebank, following a report that a four year-old boy had been assaulted in the toilets.

Officers are gathering CCTV images from in and around the area and will be reviewing the images as part of the ongoing investigation.

The suspect is described as white, with dark coloured or brown hair. He was wearing dark coloured clothing. The top is believed to be long sleeved and has some sort of logo on it.

Detective Inspector Graham Cordner said: "Since we were alerted to the incident shortly before 2pm on Tuesday, September 18, we have been reviewing CCTV footage in and around Asda and conducting local enquiries within the area.

"This is an isolated incident, nevertheless, one that has caused significant stress to the young child and his family.

"Thankfully, the child is safely at home with his family.

"It is vital that anyone who was within Asda between 1.30pm and 2pm on Tuesday, and in particular, anyone who used the toilet facilities at this time, to get in touch.

"It's important we identify people and eliminate them from the inquiry, this will let us remain focused on catching the man responsible."

Inspector Coleen Wylie said: "We understand people will be concerned and I would like to emphasise that this type of incident is rare.

"Nevertheless we have additional patrols in and around the area to offer reassurance to the public. "There is also a mobile police office which is located at the ASDA car park. "Over the next few days this will be manned for 24 hours for anyone who has any information or indeed any concerns to pass it on to officers."
