Petrol attack on hair salon
A hair salon was deliberately set on fire, in a bizarre attack that has baffled and shaken the owner.
Jackie Anderson, 57, believes it was started by the same man who tried to break into her business a week earlier.
The attempted break-in at Jackie's on Dumbarton Road, Scotstoun, took place on November 27.
A man in his early twenties was seen trying to open the shutter of the hair salon but was disturbed by a nearby delivery driver.
However, things turned more serious on December 3 when petrol was poured through a hole in the door shutter and through the smashed window of the salon, and then set alight.
A witness called the fire brigade who were quickly on the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Fortunately there was only minimal damage caused but the incident has really shaken Jackie as she has no idea why anyone would target her.
Jackie said: "I have been here 17 years and I have never had a problem with anyone.
"I can accept somebody breaking the window and trying to rob the shop - I can understand that.
"But I can't understand someone setting fire to the shop."
Although she believes it was the same person responsible for both the break-in and the fire, based on witness descriptions, police are not officially connecting the incidents at present.
The description of the man believed to be responsible is about 23 or 24-years-old, around 5ft 6ins in height, and skinny.
At the time of the incident he was wearing black trainers, a black jumper and a black hoodie.
