Traffic changes cause chaos
Motorists in Clydebank have been driven to despair in recent weeks following changes to the traffic light sequence on Dumbarton Road.
The Post has been inundated with complaints about the lights at the junction of Argyll Road, next to the college.
Only a handful of cars, travelling along Dumbarton Road from Glasgow, are getting through each change of the lights which is causing the traffic to heavily back up - particular during rush hour periods.
Hugh Beattie, who is a librarian at Clydebank College, said: "Myself and other members of staff have been caught at these traffic lights.
"The lights keep changing and we don't move very much."
The Post contacted West Dunbartonshire Council to ask why the phasing of the lights had been changed.
We were told the council had instructed the contractor responsible for the lights to adjust the timings to assist with traffic flow.
A council spokeswoman said: "We have instructed our contractor to adjust the timings to assist with the traffic flow.
"The council will continue to monitor, review and adjust the timings as required.
"It should also be noted that there are extensive utility operations being carried out within the Clydebank area which may also be affecting journey times.
"We are always happy to hear any concerns residents might have and these can be reported by calling the 24-hour Roads and Lighting Faults (RALF) line on 0800 37 36 35."
