A Clydebank out-of-school care service has become the first in the area to receive a prestigious accolade.

The Gowdie Club, in Faifley, has been awarded a level three Aiming High award from the Scottish Out of School Care Network - the highest level available.

The club is the first out-of-school service in West Dunbartonshire to be given the gong.

Katherine McIntyre, club manager, said: "At level three you need to offer a really good range of activities, trips for the holidays, an exciting environment - that type of thing.

"They also look at how much you involve the children and parents in the club.

"We have got a children's forum. For instance before our Hallowe'en party the children got to decide what games they wanted to play.

"There's other clubs in the area doing the award at the moment but we're the first to complete it."
