A CELEBRITY line-up has been confirmed for Clydebank's 125th birthday celebrations.

Former X Factor contestant Gamu Nhengu, Edward Reid from Britain's Got Talent, and River City's Tom Urie will all be performing at Three Queens Square on November 18.

The event is being held to mark the 125th anniversary of Clydebank officially becoming a burgh, and organisers are hoping for a big turn-out at the free celebration.

Entertainment will be on stage from 4pm to 8pm, with three Clydebank bands warming up the crowd before the headliners arrive.

Gamu Nhengu, 19, sparked a backlash amongst X Factor fans last year when Cheryl Cole did not pick her for the live shows, and she will be giving fans a taste of tracks from her upcoming album at the Clydebank event.

She will also be performing a cover version of Florence and the Machine's 'You've Got the Love' and another cover track of either a Noisettes or Paloma Faith song.

Gamu told the Post: "I'm looking forward to it. I've recorded in Clydebank before but it's been ages, so it'll be good to go back.

"It was quite a surprise to be asked, but a lovely surprise.

"I'm going to do two covers and two songs that are going to be on the album, which is being released next March.

"It's been good to take this year out because when the album comes out it'll be a great album.

"I've worked really hard on it.

"Everybody has been really supportive and really patient waiting for the stuff coming out."

Edward Reid, 36, gained fame on Britain's Got Talent when he sang nursery rhymes to the tune of pop songs.

He really hopes the Clydebank crowd get involved with his set as he loves audience participation.

Edward said: "It's always a good crowd in Clydebank and I'm looking forward to it.

"It's nice to be part of something that's a big, big deal and it's nice to get asked to be part of something.

"I'll never get fed up performing. I'm loving every minute of it just now.

"I'll be doing the nursery rhymes and the Teletubby song because that's what I'm known for, and I'll do some other stuff. They'll have to drag me off the stage."

The 125th anniversary celebration has been organised by West Dunbartonshire Council and is being hosted by Your Radio.

Dave Ross, programme controller at Your Radio, said: "It's just going to be a great night.

"I'm hoping for a big crowd and it'll be a great night and a great atmosphere.

"It's a completely unique event."

West Dunbartonshire Provost Denis Agnew added: "I think it's a very important milestone for Clydebank.

"It seems as if Clydebank has been here for a long time and I hope it continues for hundreds and hundreds of years.

"I'm unhappy that we don't have the Town Hall because that would have been special, but when the town was created in 1886 we didn't have a Town Hall.

"Everyone from Clydebank and the surrounding areas should be very proud of what we are and who we are."
