FRIENDS of a young man who was allegedly murdered are raising cash for a memorial in his honour.

Grieving pals of Scott Adams, 20, who died in hospital after being fatally injured in an alleged incident in Duntocher three weeks ago, are pulling together to show the community how much they miss him.

Alana O'Driscoll, 22, and Krysty Windsor, 24, will make the 150ft abseil from Clydebank's iconic Titan crane on Friday October 22 in memory of Scott, a former Clydebank High pupil, and have the blessing of the popular Parkhall amateur boxer's family.

Already their sponsor forms are starting to fill up and all the money raised will be handed over Scott's parents.

Krysty said they will look at memorials such as a plaque or a bench, and have spoken to Scott's mother - who is still coming to terms with the shock death of her son.

Krysty told the Post: "We spoke to Scott's mum and said we wanted to do this for him and she was really thankful.

"We'll leave it up to the family to decide the most fitting way to spend the money - hopefully there will be a lot to give to charity too.

"We hope that the abseil is a really good help to his family, and that it will show everyone that Scott was loved and appreciated and we miss him so much."

Sponsor forms for Alana and Krysty's memorial abseil are in John Brown's pub, on Chalmer's Street, Clydebank.

Meanwhile, a man has been charged in connection with Scott's alleged murder.

William Crawford, 22, is accused of killing Scott, who was fatally wounded on Sunday July 18 in Morrison Street, Duntocher.

Mr Crawford appeared in Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Thursday, where he made no plea or declaration.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday August 5.

Mr Crawford, originally from Dumbarton, has been living in Clydebank East.
