Hunt for killer

AN amateur boxer who was viciously killed may have been drinking in a number of pubs before the fatal attack, say police.

Tributes were paid this week to Scott Adams, 20, as officers step up the manhunt for his killer.

Detectives are searching for one man who is believed to have wounded Scott following a confrontation in a quiet street nearby. The incident happened around 1.50am on Sunday morning, when police were called to Morrison Street, in Duntocher.

They discovered Scott, from Parkhall, with extensive injuries and he was rushed to Glasgow's Western Infirmary, but he sadly passed away.

On Monday, cops turned the attention of the investigation on to the Duntiglennan Bar, on Dumbarton Road, Duntocher, where it is believed Scott had been drinking.

Detective Inspector Michael Lappin praised the public for their help and said information being passed on was proving very useful.

He said: "Enquiries have revealed that Scott had been within the Duntiglennan between 11pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday.

"We also believe he may have been drinking in other local pubs earlier in the evening and became involved in an altercation with a man in nearby Morrison Street, at Davis Square, just prior to 1.50am on Sunday.

"I would urge anyone who saw anything or has any information whatsoever that may be of assistance, to contact us.

"I would particularly appeal to taxi drivers and other revellers making their way home.

"If anyone was in the Duntiglennan pub or Village Tavern on Saturday and saw anything that they think may be relative to the fight breaking out, please contact the police."

Clydebank MSP Des McNulty praised the response of the people of Duntocher to the tragedy.

He said: "The police have told me they are very pleased with the support they are getting from people in the community who are appalled by this tragic waste of life.

"I hope that whoever is responsible for this untimely death will be quickly apprehended and that lessons will be learnt."
