IT is one of the main routes in and out of Drumchapel but has become a nightmare for road users and residents alike.

Numerous speed bumps, the width of the road and a lack of adequate parking space have been causing havoc for too long on Drumry Road East.

MSP Bill Butler has received a number of complaints over the past 10 years about the route and is now trying to thrash out a solution with Glasgow City Council's road department.

A lot of the complaints come from motorists who find it difficult to navigate the road, and traffic has increased with the new housing developments off The Antonine Road.

However, car owners living on Drumry Road East regularly suffer wing mirrors being smashed off and other vehicle damage and have resorted to parking on the pavement - something which causes its own problems.

Mr Butler said: "Over recent years I am aware that the City Council has been in discussions with Glasgow Housing Association and other stake holders as to how best to address the parking issues at Drumry Road East.

"However, it has proved extremely difficult to find a solution which is workable and doesn't impact negatively on residents.

"I have written to the executive director of Land and Environmental Services asking him whether he has any new initiatives which could prove more fruitful."

At present Glasgow City Council (GCC) says it is not aware there is a problem at Drumry Road East apart from those dealt with by traffic calming measures, but communications with Mr Butler are at an early stage.
