Clydebank's top comedian has had the week of his life after appearing on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and performing in front of 10,000 people at the SECC.

Millions of TV viewers would have seen Kevin Bridges, 23, crack jokes at the expense of his mum and dad, Patricia and Andy, who he still lives with in Hardgate.

But they revealed to the Post, he always asks permission.

The show was broadcast on the same night as Kevin's huge solo SECC stand-up gig, making Friday night one of the most important of his career.

Kevin told the Post: "I haven't seen the show yet so I don't know how I came across on Jonathan Ross but it was good to do.

"I love the show and when you watch it you see him talking to people in the green room, so when he started talking to me in the green room it was brilliant."

Kevin's mum and dad are proud as punch of their boy and say they never take his ribbing to heart.

Patricia, 57, said: "He had a right go at me on Jonathan Ross but he asks my permission before he does anything like that.

"What he said to me was, if you can poke fun at your parents then everyone else is fair game.

"I know he loves me and I know he loves his father.

"When I went to the SECC I couldn't believe everything that was going on behind the scenes.

"There was six trucks full of stuff and sixty people up from London setting everything up. I was crying after the show.

"After the gig and the Jonathan Ross show his agent told him 'your life will change after tonight' - but he'll always be my wee boy."

Dad Andy, 62, added: "In the early days I used to run him here there and everywhere to do unpaid gigs.

"I remember being in Bridge of Allan and there were eight people in the audience including myself, his mother, my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law.

"We were just comparing that to ten thousand people at the SECC - I never would have envisaged that.

"Nobody in our family has been in entertainment or showbiz.

"I worked in Singer's and then when Singer closed I worked in the Social Work department and my wife is a home help. So it's a totally different world we're seeing now.

"I always knew Kevin was good - that he was very good.

"When Kevin stepped on to the stage and his name was up in lights behind him - fifteen foot high letters spelling Kevin Bridges - I just thought all these people are here to see our wee boy and it was quite an emotional moment.

"All the people backstage were saying what a nice lad he was and that's great for a father to hear."
