A PASSIONATE Bankie wants to bring the history of the area to an international audience with a walking tour around the town.
Iain McGuinness, 25, a film producer from Mountblow, was inspired to the idea when he was completing historical work 'Clydebank Through a Lens'.
Seeing a gap in the market to offer a service to tourists en route from Glasgow to Loch Lomond, the driven documentary film maker is in the process of setting up Clyde Walking Tours and will stage dry runs in May.
Iain, whose short films include 'Post-Blitz Clydebank' and 'South Ifrica', told the Post he wanted to show the world what Clydebank has contributed to history.
He said: "Clydebank contributed some of the greatest cruise liners ever made and Singer sewing machines to the world, some great minds and so many sacrificed in Scotland's war effort. At the moment, we have tourist attractions such as the Titan Crane, and distilleries, but I see Clydebank as being the often overlooked intermediate location between Glasgow and Loch Lomond, when it could be much, much more.
"Very often you hear people talking about the QE2 having been built in Glasgow, when they really mean Clydebank.
"The town has its own very individual identity in the eyes of those who are proud of their town - nothing gets a true Bankie's back up more."
Anyone interested in working as a guide or volunteering to test the tours can contact Iain on 0871 900 2111, or by emailing iain@clydewalkingtours.co.uk.
