Glass panes thrown from high rise flats

Panes of reinforced glass are being tossed from high rise windows - leaving residents fearful someone will be "sliced in two".
A heavy pane - removed from one of the louvred windows in the blocks - landed within feet of the main door of Crescent Court last week.
The ventilation panes are around 7mm thick, reinforced with wire and would undoubtedly cause serious injury, if not death, if they hit somebody.
They are easily removed from the frames due to the louvre design, and are on every main landing.
The residents association now wants the louvred windows removed from all Dalmuir high rises.
Danny Lennie, chairman of the Dalmuir Multi-Storey Tenants and Residents Association, told the Post: "On Sunday [February 21] around 6.30pm I heard a crash and this [pane] had landed right outside the main door.
"We have been telling the council for months to do something about it. It's pretty regular.
"If one hit someone it would slice through them.
"That one on Sunday was probably the worst one I've seen because anybody coming out of the door wouldn't have seen it coming.
"They need to get these things removed before somebody is killed."
It is not clear which floor the pane on Sunday was thrown from but there are panes missing from the louvres on landings five, 10 and 14.
West Dunbartonshire Council said that although the louvres have been vandalised they have no plans to remove them.
A spokeswoman said: "Caretaking staff recall cleaning up broken glass first thing on the morning of Monday February 22, however the council received no calls from residents regarding this incident.
"On the east elevation of Crescent Court, there are twelve louvred glass slats on each of the fourteen floors - these are in constant use to ventilate the bin chute areas.
"On inspection, three louvred slats are missing.
"Obviously an act of vandalism has occurred as the slats would need to be forced from their fixings.
"Orders have been raised to replace the missing slats.
"There is no particular pattern of vandalism to the louvres at Crescent Court or the other multi storey flats in the area, and at this time the council has no plans to remove these from the landings."
