A STAR in the making wowed a live national television audience and almost reduced tough show judges to tears as part of a stunning dance routine.

Little Holly McPherson performed the opening and closing movements of dance troupe The Box's sensational semi-final routine on Sky One's Got to Dance show.

The dancers, who come from across the area to attend Robert Hamilton's class in a rundown unheated room above the Rendezvous pub in Scotstoun, will now bid for the £100,000 top prize live on the satellite television channel.

Holly, a seven-year-old primary three pupil at Our Lady of Loretto Primary in Dalmuir, performed a graceful solo ballet dance at the start of the dream-inspired performance set to 'Hallelujah' by Alexandra Burke.

Dance legend Adam Garcia, a notoriously hard-to-please judge, told The Box: "I was worried you might not have anything else to show us but I was so wrong.

"I'm still trying to fight the tears - you set out to affect people through dance and you did that. You have set the standard."

As the talented children returned to a heroes' welcome on Monday, Holly's mum Nicola told the Post she was "stuck to the ceiling" with excitement.

Nicola, from Old Kilpatrick, said: "It's hard to sink in.

"Holly's my baby, my wee darling and we were worried because she is so young.

"She was just phenomenal - I wanted to cry but was too excited and overjoyed to do it."

Holly has been training with Robert Hamilton since "she was in nappies" and came close to appearing before the cameras in last year's Britain's Got Talent.

The live final featuring The Box takes place on Sunday at 6pm.
