A UNIQUE landmark clock could be restored to create a focal point in the centre of town.

The MV Clydebank, on the south bank of the shopping centre, has lain still and broken for years, above the heads of shoppers as they go about their business.

Now the new manager of the centre wants to discover more about the novelty clock's past and try to locate someone with the expertise to fix it.

Andy Forrester, Clyde Shopping Centre manager, has listened to dozens of shoppers ask him about the MV Clydebank clock and now wants to investigate what can be done to restore it to its past glory.

He believes there are people in Clydebank who can unlock the story of the unusual timepiece.

Mr Forrester told the Post: "Lots of people ask me about it and we need to know more about it before anything can be done.

"There has been nothing done with it for too long and it's deteriorating badly.

"There must be people out there with the knowledge of who worked on it in the past and how to repair it.

"If anyone did work on it and knows if it can be repaired we'd love to hear from them."

If you have any information relating to the clock, contact the Post on 0141 952 0565 or call the Clyde Shopping Centre on 0141 952 4594.
