THE town's reputation as a retail centre is set to climb with the announcement that a national outdoor activity store is setting up here - creating 40 jobs.

GO Outdoors, an expanding company selling equipment for hiking and climbing, as well as goods like tents and all-weather clothing, is moving into the former Megabowl building on Livingstone Street, Linnvale.

As well as taking over the massive unit, which has been vacant for years, the arrival will create more than 40 jobs in the area and should pull in more trade to Clydebank's other nearby retail outlets.

The company is also promising to give Bankies a unique shopping experience including a five metre-high indoor climbing wall which customers can try out.

Paul Davison, GO Outdoors Clydebank manager, told the Post the town was the ideal place to open, with such an array of countryside and wildlife to be explored nearby.

He said: "Clydebank will be an important store for GO Outdoors.

"It is a wonderful area for outdoor activity with Clydebank bounded by the beautiful Dunbartonshire countryside.

"We've got Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

"With camping in the UK enjoying a surge of interest recently, we're looking forward to giving Clydebank and the surrounding areas, one of the most vibrant outdoor retail experiences in the country.

"GO Outdoors is passionate about inspiring as many people as possible in Scotland to get out and enjoy the outdoors lifestyle available on their doorstep - we hope the new Clydebank store will achieve just that."
