THE airwaves across Clydebank were taken over by a special guest on Sunday - and it was none other than Provost Denis Agnew.

Self-confessed music lover, Provost Agnew, was asked to kick-off a brand new monthly show on our sister station YOUR Radio, which is going to be similar to the popular BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs.

With the tunes hand-picked for the show, which is called The Music Of Their Lives, by the area's cultural figurehead, it was quite simply an opportunity the Provost did not want to miss.

He told the Post: "Personally speaking, I think it's quite nice to be able to sit down and speak about bits of music which I think are interesting.

"Music is particular to each individual and I will be focusing on music which impacts on people.

"I love jazz and classical music, as well as the old crooners like Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

"But we played a broad spectrum on the day, which hopefully people enjoyed."

Dave, who is the station's programme controller, thinks that Provost Agnew was the perfect guest for the first show.

He said: "I think if he enjoyed it he might be looking for a regular weekly slot."
