All schools in the area are set to reopen tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for West Dunbartonshire Council said: "West Dunbartonshire Council intends to open all its schools and nurseries as planned tomorrow, Thursday January 7.

"Because of an extreme shortage of grit, pupils, staff and parents should be aware that footpaths, car parks and playgrounds may be icy and are asked to take care in these areas.

"In order to avoid congestion at school gates. parents are asked not to drop their children within the school premises or at the gates but instead to drop them at a safe point some distance from the school.

"Staff are asked to take care in and around car parks.

"In some cases it may be necessary to park cars outwith the school premises.

"The council will keep the situation under review and will keep the public informed via local media if there are particular issues with individual schools."
