Shipbuilders asked to unveil treasures
An 'antiques roadshow' style event has been set up to gather memorabilia from the town's shipbuilding past.
Former yard workers or their families are invited to bring along photographs, letters, certificates or any other mementoes, along with their background stories, to a special stall at the Clyde Shopping Centre.
Emma Baxter, pictured, an officer from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will be assessing the material on behalf of regeneration company Clydebank Re-built and will then get back to anyone whose items were of particular interest.
The chosen items will form an exhibition, which will tour schools in the area and will also be on show at the Titan Crane.
Emma said: "Over twenty-two-thousand people have visited the Titan Crane since it opened as a heritage visitor centre three years ago and we know there is a lot of interest from visitors and schools in knowing more about the people who worked at the yards.
"We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who worked on the Titan Crane itself."
The stall will be open at the Clyde Shopping Centre near the BHS cafe on Saturday January 9 between 9.30am and 5pm.
Anyone with memorabilia to share who is unable to make it that day can call Emma Baxter at Clydebank Re-built on 0141 951 3420 or email Emma.Baxter@clydebankrebuilt.co.uk.
