A group that provides fun and friends for children with special needs has been saved from closure by a charitable grant.

The Clydebank Special Needs Forum has received £6,000 from the Lloyds TSB foundation for Scotland to help it continue with its Saturday morning art and drama group, held in St Eunan's Church hall, Drumry.

Ann McGee, who deals with funding for the special needs forum, says that without the grant, the club - which has been running since 1997 - would have to close.

The club provides an opportunity for 22 young people aged between six and 18 with a range of special physical and mental needs to get involved in art and drama.

Ann told the Post: "It was getting to the stage that we were going to have to close.

"It's all paid staff and the children pay a small fee of two-pounds-fifty so we really need funding.

"We've got a group of professional actors that come in and all sorts of things."
