THE weather may not have been like Cyprus, but the island's favourite reality television stars helped Clydebank's Christmas lights go on with a bang.

Greek-Cypriot-Irish comedy dance act Stavros Flatley - aka Dimitri Demetriou and son Lagi - lit up a rainy Clyde Shopping Centre on Saturday before pressing the button to illuminate the town with festive cheer.

The pair's limousine, laid on by the organisers, was mobbed with young autograph hunters when they arrived at the stage.

And a huge crowd braved the elements to watch the Britain's Got Talent Stars strut their stuff, and also caught great entertainment from the YOUR Radio stage like Estonian star Hannah, singer Alana Wright and dancer April Stuart Macrae.

Delighted Dimitri, told the Post afterwards that he "loved every minute of it".

He said: "The people were really nice to us and we had a top afternoon, though it was a shame about the weather.

"It was so good to see so many people who turned up despite the rain.

"It might sound silly but I'm always just so grateful when people turn up like that, it's amazing.

"With them enjoying themselves and all the acts entertaining them it all went off brilliantly.

"We've been to Scotland a few times now and danced a couple of times but that was our first light switch on up here, which was very special."
