CASH is set to be ploughed into the run down end of Clydebank's shopping centre.
The area to the south of the Forth and Clyde Canal at Three Queens Square is to be transformed after the council secured nearly £2m to redevelop it.
The money comes from the Scottish Government's town centre regeneration fund, which is investing £60m into the country's most needy town centres.
The decision is a victory for West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) which put together the application for the coffer-swelling grant
WDC's three-stage plan to splash the cash will see Three Queens Square and the adjacent malls - extending from Kilbowie Road to Argyll Road - given a facelift to mirror the Clyde Shopping Centre to the north.
A link connecting the swan bridge over the canal with the towpath will then be constructed and lighting improvements throughout the area - including solar lighting along the canal - will be installed.
