MUGGED FOR CIGGIES

A SHAKEN gran has told how she was robbed at knife point for two packets of cigarettes and a bingo marker.

The brave 66-year-old initially resisted the coward's demands for her shopping bag, but when she saw the "smartly-dressed" mugger had a knife she decided it was not worth getting stabbed over.

But the ordeal in Whitecrook has left the usually independent and sociable woman fearful of being out alone and now she is even worried about answering her door.

She says, until this criminal is caught she will not sleep easy.

Clydebank police have this week appealed for information and revealed the man in question is thought to have also threatened a young boy out walking his dog shortly before he committed the robbery.

Anyone with information on the incident, which took place on October 29 at 10pm in Low Crescent, is asked to contact police in 0141 532 3300.
