THREE areas will be used to test the council's controversial revised bin collection service before it is rolled out in Clydebank next year.
In a bid to get more people recycling, collections of brown and blue bins are set to become more frequent, and general waste green bins are to be emptied less often.
West Dunbartonshire Council's Housing, Environment and Economic Development (HEED) Committee agreed to introduce the new collections at a meeting on Wednesday.
Three pilot areas - one in Dumbarton, one in Renton and one in the Vale of Leven - will have the new scheme implemented in April next year with the rest of the West Dunbartonshire following suit in December.
Dry recyclable material such as paper and garden/food waste will be collected every fortnight instead of every four weeks, and general waste will be collected every fortnight instead of every week.
But the new collections will only apply to low-rise housing, so high-rises and many tenements will be excluded.
