Mother of evil

A MUM'S evil nature has been blamed for breeding the violence that led to the murder of a man in a brutal street attack.

Twisted Ann Gorman, 46, was herself convicted of attempted murder last week after a jury heard how six years earlier she had egged on her sons to almost kill a teenager by setting him on fire.

The woman even watched the brutal attack.

This nurturing of violence in her brood was a key factor in the murder of Bernard 'Benny' Hagen at the hands of her eldest son Gary, it was claimed this week.

Benny Hagen's widow, Diane, told the Post: "What chance did those boys have when their mother is capable of doing something like that?

"Kids go out and do things but their mother should be the one holding them back.

"Whatever they wanted to achieve they did it - taking Benny destroyed all of us.

"I would love to go into their minds and find out why there was so much anger towards us - I just don't understand."

The 2002 attack Ann Gorman encouraged her sons Gary and Stephen to carry out on 17-year-old Sean Hagen, Benny's son, left the boy with 24 per cent burns to his body.

In November last year, Gary Gorman cold-bloodedly killed Benny after stabbing him six times and leaving part of the murder weapon embedded in his victim's head.

Gary and his uncle, Michael Gorman, were found guilty of killing Benny Hagen at the High Court in Glasgow last week.

Gary along with his mum Ann and brother Stephen were also convicted of the attempted murder of Sean Hagen, in 2002.
