Swine flu case confirmed

Print | Email

A child at Kilbowie Primary School has been confirmed as having swine flu.

The pupil - believed to be a girl in primary six - is being treated at home.

But West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) has been advised by Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board not to close the school or issue anti-viral medication.

A spokeswoman for WDC said: "The Health Board's advice is that Risk assessments are considered no longer to be appropriate in this current phase of the outbreak.

"Furthermore, in line with national guidance, there will be no further need to consider school year group exclusions, school closures or anti-viral medication for pupils."

A full update will be published in this week's Clydebank Post out on Wednesday.
