A CLYDEBANK man was jailed for five months this week after shouting ‘is that your new boyfriend?’ at his ex-girlfriend.

Darryl Hollis, 24, made the remark when cycling past his ex-girlfriend’s home early in the morning.

She was standing at her window with a man having a cigarette.

Hollis was previously jailed after admitting sending her abusive messages and breaking conditions not to contact or approach her.

Fiscal depute Scott Simpson said: “The accused was on a bicycle on a path to the rear of the property “He acknowledged [his ex] by shouting and then cycled out of sight.

“He shouted ‘is that your new boyfriend? and gesticulated towards the witness that was there.

“He knew he shouldn’t have been there.” Hollis, of Pattison Street, admitted the offence and appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court from custody last Tuesday.

His lawyer, Brian McGuire, said the incident took place at around 7am on Monday.

Mr McGuire said: “He said he was leaving his house where he lives with his mother to check whether a tattoo parlour was open.

“He saw [his ex] standing at the landing window smoking, with a male. He shouted, which wasn’t abusive as such, but was breaking the conditions.” Mr McGuire added that he did not understand why Hollis would be ‘so stupid’ and that the terms of the order had been made crystal clear.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Hollis: “It seems you are either unable or unwilling to do what the court and law requires you to do.

“I’ve no option in this case other than to deal with you again by sending you to prison.

“You committed this act while on a number of bail orders and you had no good reason to be near the address.

“You were under bail conditions to stay away and you certainly had no reason to shout at the lady in question.”
