A MAN who stole five blocks of cheese from a Clydebank shop is behind bars.
William Lindores previously pleaded guilty to pinching £19.49 worth of the food from the Iceland store in Sylvania Way on March 19 this year.
The 54-year-old appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week.
Anne Lambie, defending, told the court sentence had previously been deferred for good behaviour but Lindores had failed to behave himself in the meantime and was currently serving a jail term.
The lawyer said her client had “chronic” issues with alcohol which had taken their toll on his health, adding that his offending behaviour was linked to those problems.
Sheriff Craig Turnbull told Lindores: “You were given an opportunity by the court to show you can behave and you did not take it.” Lindores, of the Bellgrove Hotel, Glasgow, was jailed for seven months.
