SEVENTY year olds are being urged to get an injection to prevent them from developing shingles.
Often worse for older people, shingles affects a specific area of the body and is usually a very painful, debilitating condition that also produces a rash.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde offers immunisation from the disease but says the uptake of the vaccine is low.
Dr Emilia Crighton said: βItβs important that everyone eligible gets the vaccination to not only lessen the chance of getting shingles, but also to diminish the severity of the symptoms if they do get infected.β
