TWO SISTERS are looking to Clydebank Post readers in a bid to help them solve a family mystery.

Sally Rooney and Annette Gilluley are hoping to learn the meaning behind a medal that was presented to their grandfather in 1912. The medal is 18 carat rose gold and has the words ‘Clydebank LOC’ inscribed on it, alongside the name ! of their grandfather, R. Wright.

The words ‘five years’ also appear on the medal, which the ladies believe may represent five years service to an organisation.

Having done some research, the sisters have been unable to find out what LOC stands for, but hope Post readers may know.

Handed down through the generations, the medal is now in the hands of Sally and Annette’s nephew in Australia. Travelling to see him later this year, they hope they will be able to explain what this piece of family heritage means to its new guardian.

People who have information regarding the medal can email Sally at chezsally@ hotmail.co.uk.
