THERE will be double the fun at schools in Clydebank this week as teachers welcome three sets of twins into P1.

The youngsters are amongst a whopping nine sets of twins starting school in West Dunbartonshire this year.

They include four-year-olds Ryan and Darren Stewart, who will be welcomed into Clydemuir Primary in Dalmuir; Harry and Lily Smith, four, who are joining St Eunan’s in Clydebank and Abbie and Adam Pearce who are joining St Mary’s in Duntocher.

Ryan and Darren’s mum Stacey Scot said: “They can’t wait to start school, and I’m looking forward to it as well. They talk about it all the time. I just can’t believe it’s this week. I know they’ll be fine and they’ve got each other.” Councillor Michelle McGinty, convener of educational services at West Dunbartonshire Council, said: “It’s a massive step for all our new primary ones to start school, and for their parents. I know there may be a few tears at the school gates but all the parents can be reassured that all of our fantastic school staff will be on hand to welcome them and ensure they settle in.” Class pictures of the new P1s will feature in the Clydebank Post on September 23.
