BUDDING entrepreneurs who need a cash injection to make their business idea a reality are being invited to take part in a new competition.

The West Dunbartonshire Social Enterprise Challenge will offer three entrepreneurs up to £15,000 of funding to turn their idea into a sustainable social enterprise.

The challenge will be launched at an event on August 17 in Dumbarton, where people with a business idea that benefits their community are invited to attend.

Organised by West Dunbartonshire Council and Scotland’s social enterprise development agency Firstport, the event will provide an introduction to what a social enterprise is and offer people support in developing their ideas.

The event will be held at the Concord Community Centre, Dumbarton, from 10am till 4.30pm. People who would like to book a place should email business.support@west-dunbarton.gov.uk.

The West Dunbartonshire Social Enterprise Challenge was launched in 2013 to encourage the creation of social enterprises that create jobs and support economic growth. As social enterprises these businesses also fulfil social goals — tackling social problems, improving communities and people’s life chances.
