Ryan Hamilton, 22, pled guilty to a series of offences at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week.

The court heard he befriended a one girl on the popular image-sharing app Snapchat in August 2013 when she was 13.

He asked to meet her in person and she declined but continued to speak to him online.

Fiscal depute Jeanette Maclean said the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was heading to school on the bus when Hamilton sent her a picture of a naked man in a bath.

The girl was “shocked and distressed” by the image which was also sent to her friend, a 13-year-old boy, who was also shocked.

They both then received a series of explicit images from Hamilton and the girl told her mother who went to the police.

Hamilton also admitted sending an indecent image to a young girl in Campbeltown — who thought he was “weird and creepy”.

He pleaded guilty to causing a 15-year-old girl in the town fear and alarm by sending her Snapchat messages telling her she was “really hot”.

Sheriff Gerard MacMillan ordered Hamiton, of Bryson Street, to be place on the sex offenders’ register.

He deferred sentence until March 24 for background reports.
