The track features Drumchapel’s ‘SubKonscious’ Andy Jay, and ‘A-Macc’, or Andrew Malcolmson, 24, of Whitecrook.

In the radio-friendly single, both MCs perform over a remixed version of Plan B’s Cast a Light.

Since it was released last Sunday the pair have been overwhelmed with the reaction from the public, winning plaudits for the mainstream, commercial sound.

SubKonscious, 30, said: “We’ve had a great reaction since we released the track — it’s one of the more mainstream sounding tracks we’ve done. Guys that are killing it in the Scottish hip hop scene are interested in what’s going on.” Most of the lyrics were penned by A-Macc, a 22-year-old from Whitecrook who spends his time outside hip hop working between bar jobs.

The song delves into his own personal life and problems the young rapper has faced with friends and family.

Crosses mostly features A-Macc, but song partner SubKonscious performs his own verse towards the end.

The video was shot around the north west of Glasgow, with many scenes in and around Drumchapel train station.

Having worked up an impressive repertoire of tracks all created and produced independently, the pair, who are part of four-piece Glasgow hip hop crew Deadsoundz, are looking to expand their horizons.

Formed in late 2012, they have become a popular live act in Scotland due to their high energy performances and dedication to their art.

With gigs around Europe now on the bill, they are also in talks about a potential stateside gig in Los Angeles, California in November this year.

And those interested should keep an eye on their social media as they may be headlining King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut at the beginning of May.

SubKonscious added: “We’re also in the process of starting our own clothing line. We’ve got a lot of listeners across the US and Europe, and this could be a good chance to get some merch sold and generate some funds, to help get our music out there to people.

“We’ve been doing a lot of shows and we may be on the bill for the Wickerman Festival and a promoter from the Anti Injustice Movement has contacted us about the shows in Los Angeles.” Both are looking to trade their day jobs for a life in hip hop and given the catchy, emotive and commercial sound of Crosses it is not outwith the realms of possibility.
