John Keaney called Olukunle Ogunzola a “f****** n****r” when he was told to pay for mouthwash he used in the toilets of Campus bar in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

The 31-year-old also told the attendant, “this is Scotland not Africa”.

Keaney, from Clydebank, pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to acting in a racially aggravated manner which was likely or intended to cause alarm and distress to Mr Ogunzola, on December 15, 2013.

The senior youth co-ordinator at Y-Sort It club for young people also admitted assaulting another man at the nightspot by punching him on the head to his injury.

It is expected that more details will be given next month when Keaney will be sentenced for his crimes.

A not-guilty plea of assaulting a third man by attempting to punch him on the head was accepted by prosecutors.

Sheriff Linda Ruxton ordered a background report is carried out before sentence is passed.

Y Sort-It is a youth project that provides information and support to young people between the ages of 12 and 25 in West Dunbartonshire.

On the group’s web page Keaney is listed as the depute co-ordinator and says he led the group's 'Wrecked and Wasted" campaign, which was aimed at raising awareness of the effects alcohol and drugs can have on your health, social and work life.

Describing some of his duties on the site, he wrote: “I overlook what staffing duties entail in a weekly basis as well as heading up the wrecked and wasted campaign around alcohol consumption and drug misuse and its various events such as organising gig nights, DJ nights and workshops related to alcohol and drug use”.
