Laura Fleming waxed 67 eyebrows in one hour to take the record and raise cash for the STV appeal.

The kind-hearted 29-year-old, who works at Bella Mani in Clyde Shopping Centre, completed her attempt in August but only recently received formal notification that she was entering the record books.

She told the Post: “I was inspired by watching the STV Appeal two years ago and I was thinking about ways to fundraise in the salon. I thought lets do something big, I was just trying to think of something that wasn’t your usual chest wax. I thought about the Guinness Book of World Records as I’m genuinely fast at my waxing, I contacted them and found out I could go ahead and attempt to break the record, which was 20.

“We did it in August at our Motherwell salon. We were worried as we weren’t sure that people would turn up for the wax. I was just going left to right and the girls were pulling in men from the street, couples out for a walk, men on their way home from work, drunk men coming from the pub; the girls were asking please will you do this.

“I had done 67 but when I sent it to the Guinness Book of World Records there was an error on the film, taped by someone in the salon. It was recorded as 43 eyebrow waxes as they only saw 35 minutes.” Officially recording 43 waxes, Laura still exceeded the original record and is now awaiting her formal certificate, which is due to arrive any day.

Raising £900 for the charity, Laura presented the cheque on the live STV Appeal show. Last month she was also invited to meet First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who was congratulating people on their efforts for the broadcaster’s appeal.

“It’s nice to do it for the STV Appeal as it’s Scottish based,” Laura added. “We know that it’s going to children that are next door to you, or in the next town.” Laura is still accepting donations to the STV Appeal at the Bella Mani salon in Clydebank.
