The comedy hero, who last month visited St Peter the Apostle High School to talk about his new book, will officially open the Glen Cafe on January 31.

Ryan Halpin, 29, opened the doors to his new business last week but will formally welcome customers to the cafe with old pal Kevin by his side.

“I have not done any advertising so Kevin said he would come to the opening,” Ryan said. “That’s better than any advert.

“I grew up with Kevin and have hung about with him since we were at school. He’s been one of my friends for years as we both grew up in Hardgate.” Explaining the comic may be forced to swap jokes for bacon rolls, Ryan revealed Kevin isn’t famed for his culinary skills. “It’s always takeaways at Kevin’s house!” he said Kevin will be at the cafe next Saturday morning at 11am to cut the ribbon at the door. The 28-year-old contacted The Post last week about his pal’s new business venture.
