Pupils at St Peter the Apostle High School are set to make ‘Apostle on Air Radio’ a reality from December 18, with a mix of music, talk and review shows.

The station has been created as a result of £5,000 funding from the parent council, which will help install a brand new desktop package.

Youngsters at the school are now invited to apply for positions at the station, from manager to presenter.

This follows on from the successful launch of the school TV station, which produces an online video bulletin every week for pupils, staff and parents.

Head boy Michael Gaughan said: “Everyone is really excited to launch the station and I loved learning how to cue up songs, talk over the beginning of tracks and even do radio jingles.” Benn Rapson, a member of the Apostle on Air media club, added: “We have some real cutting edge equipment here in the school now and the possibilities for the radio station are endless.” The first show, a Christmas special on Thursday, December 18, will be available through the school website.
