A man knocked on the door of an elderly couple living in Cleddans Rd, Clydebank, last Thursday and he claimed to be from the council’s environmental services department.
However, he had no ID and insisted it was within his vehicle. The suspicious couple contacted West Dunbartonshire Council, who confirmed they had no record of staff working in the area.
Police attended and found no trace of the man. Clydebank Police Inspector Natalie Doherty said: “We would encourage everyone to be vigilant and always ask for ID.
“If you are unsure of anyone, do not let them in.”
