Jonny Whyte contacted us to see if we could help track down his old army mate Phil McDowell, who he had not heard from in more than two decades.
In May next year, Jonny is helping to organise a 25 year reunion for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in his training platoon.
He was desperate to contact his old comrade Phil and came to us for aid.
Not long after we published the story, Phil McDowell’s daughter noticed it and forwarded it onto her father — and they were able to make contact.
“Thanks for your help,” Jonny said. “Phil’s daughter saw the story on Facebook and got in touch. The last time I seen and spoke to Phil was 24 years ago - so thanks again.”
