Children at Yoker Community Campus received a visit from public health minister, Michael Matheson and Big Tiny, a character campaigning for the right of children not to be exposed to adults’ tobacco smoke.
Organised by the British Lung Foundation Scotland, the scheme was designed to help generate informed discussions about the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Michael Matheson MSP, public health minister, said: “It’s great to see British Lung Foundation Scotland spreading the word about how harmful second hand smoke can be.
“Many smokers believe that by opening the window or standing at the back door they’re protecting their children. All the research tells us that isn’t the case. So the message to smokers is clear, for your children’s sake, take it right outside.” Anyone looking for assistance with giving up smoking can call NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Smokefree Services on 0800 84 84 84.
